Mangaluru, December 15:  “India is a land of many cultures, it is enough if we make the citizens conscious that all the Indians are one” said Sri Veerabhadra Chennamalla Swamiji of Nidumamidi Mahasamsthan Mutt. He was speaking at a Jana Nudi Program organized at Santhikiran hall in Nanthoor by Abhimatha association.

Petty financial crisis and politics are also the reasons behind the terrorism and communal glitches in the country. It is an undesirable development that the Seers who run the Mutts, and religious leaders involving in this. It is sad that those who have to brood a bonding between the citizens are trying to break the society. The differences in the society due to communalism, un-touchability and financial imbalance must be rooted out by reconstructing the society form the base level, said the Nidumamidi seer.

Swamiji said, although law is enforced to root out un-touchability, still these blind practices are prevalent. There are various instances of such incidents. Hence there is a need to change the mind set of our citizens to root out poverty towards which the centre’s of prayers and mutt ought to strive.

He further stated that he would support any government moves towards nationalising some major rich temples of the state.

The seer said, Dalith priest’s are appointed at Nidumamidi Mutt. The women and the daliths are permitted to touch the idols of god inside the temple and lunch was also shared with the daliths. This was done with the intension that, others too ought to root out the system of un- touchability which prevails in the society. Discussion about this topic with Swamijis of various mutts has received a good response from few, said the seer.
