Mangaluru, January 19: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike on Monday January 19th protested in front of the DC office in Mangaluru demanding completion of Varahi project sooner.
Protesters demanded the completion of the Varahi project sooner and also to drop the Nethravathy diversion project. The protesters held the banners which carried the slogans “Supply water from Varahi-Let Nethravathy to us”.
MG Hegde, leader of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike addressing the protestors said, the corrupt officials have looted sixty percent of the funds sanctioned for Varahi project. Even then water is unseen in Varahi. Our country has reached till the Mars planet but hasn’t got the capable officers and MPs to erect a dam across a river. Ultimately, Nethravathy river diversion project too will see only empty pipes till Kolar.
During the protest, Yogish Shetty Jeppu, MG Hegde, Jayothi Jain, Hameed Hassan, Raghavendra Rao, J Ibrahim, Geethananda Shetty and other leaders of the organisation and along with other activists were present.
