New Delhi, India: The BJP’s debacle in the Delhi Assembly elections has led to deep churning not just within the party but also its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Sources in the BJP have said that the RSS has decided to monitor the BJP strategy for Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled for later this year. RSS functionary Dattatreya Hosabale today met BJP leaders over Bihar strategy, sources said adding that Bihar BJP in-charge Bhupendra Yadav, party general secretary Murlidhar Rao and other key leaders were present in the meeting.
Sources also said that the RSS is averse to any direct intervention by BJP in the political crisis.
Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party delivered the first major blow to PM Modi since his own spectacular election last year. In the election results for Delhi Assembly declared earlier this month, Mr Kejriwal’s party won 67 of 70 seats, pushing BJP to a distant second place.
As the party analyses the reasons for its debacle, BJP organisational secretary Ramlal, who is on deputation from the RSS to the party and coordinates between them, has been tasked with preparing a report on the defeat.
