Bhopal,feb.22 : A woman and her daughter were stabbed to death in old city area on Saturday evening. The two were found dead in a pool of blood by woman’s husband, Raju Lalwani. The bodies bore multiple injuries, suggesting injuries were inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon. When learning about the chilling double murder, a large number people gathered outside the building. The incident triggered panic in the area.
Spurned lover of the girl is believed to be behind brutal killing. It is not known if the crime was executed by one or more people, the police added. A case was registered at Aishbagh police station of the city. Raju, a hawker, lived with his wife, Sunita, 40, and Divya,19, at a rented accommodation in a multi-storeyed building at Naveen Nagar for past six years.. His daughter Divya was a college student and she had worked at a call centre.
The incident took place between 3pm and 6pm. When Raju returned to house, he found it locked from outside. When opened the door, he found blood splattered on the floor and a bed, Sunita lying unconscious on bed and Divya on the floor. Initially, it was believed they committed suicide, but multiple stab wounds on the body made it clear the two were brutally murdered. Blood stains all over the room suggested the woman and daughter struggled a lot before succumbing to stab injuries.
Sunita’s sister Poonam, who resides in the same locality with father, visited the house in the afternoon. She had lunch, police said. But what happened after that remains a mystery. The building where in the incident took place is in crowded area. As many as eleven families including the owner, live in the building. Police said so far no one has come forward to offer clue about the killings. Officials said it is hard to believe no one heard screams of woman and her daughter. People are being quizzed to get leads on the case.
The house of the youth, who emerged as suspect in the case, is also in the same locality. Police said he visit victims often and there were also reports that he wanted to marry the girl. He went missing after the incident. Efforts are underway to nab suspect. Grieving kin expressed their suspicion over the youth. The bodies were recovered for autopsy.
