Mangaluru, March 24: MLC Ivan D’Souza had raised two queries in the state legislature council on Tuesday March 24th, regarding the details of beach up-gradation and also the road junctions to be built connecting the tourist spots which are spread over the coastal districts.
Responding to this query, Minister R V Deshpande informed that through the State Tourism Department, 23 beaches will be face lifted which are spread across the coastal districts.
The beaches to be improved are Ullal, Someshwar, Sultan Battery, Suratkal, and Talapady in Mangaluru taluk. Other places to be developed in the twin districts of coastal area include a tourist lodge at Kateel near the Durgaparameshwari temple and also at Moodbidri near Jain math.
The tourism department has sanctioned grants for thirteen of the road junctions which link the tourist spots. Among these five of the junction road works has already started and tender process is on for 5 more works. Tenders will be called by the PWD and port and inland water transport department as the grant was released on this month for remaining three works, he informed.
Deshpande also informed that under the same schemes, stretch connecting Mudipu town to St Joseph Vaz church as well as the stretch which links Urwa market to Sultan Battery will also be developed.
