Mangaluru, April 6: A mobile shop was gutted in fire in Kondana, near Kotekar at Ullal, outskirts of Mangaluru owing to an estimated loss of goods worth Rs 40 lakhs.
It is said that short circuit is the cause for fire.
Fire broke out in the “Sai Ram” mobile and fancy shop owned by Bharath during late night of Saturday. Locals who observed the fire immediately informed the matter to shop owner Bharath.
The locals tried to put down the fire. The fire extinguisher was brought to the spot, but by then all the things in the shop were charred due to the fire. Bharath was running this shop since the past five years in a rented building.
It is learnt that Bharath had taken loan from the bank to run the shop.
Ullal cops, Zilla Panchayat Vice –President Sathish Kumpala, BJP Mangaluru constituency president Chandrashekar Ucchil, and MESCOM officials have visited the spot.
A large crowd was seen at the venue post this incident.
