The suspect attacked the victim after he thought he was taking photographs of his fiance.
An Asian man died after he was attacked by a GCC national who thought he was taking photographs of his fiance. The incident was reported from a restaurant of a five star hotel in Dubai on Sunday night.
The suspect has been arrested for causing unintentional death.
The suspect reportedly confessed to assaulting the deceased, but said he did not intend to kill him.
Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, said the suspect was at the restaurant with his fiance. The deceased, who was at the restaurant with some friends, started clicking photographs with his mobile phone.
The suspect objected as he believed his fiance was also in the photographs the deceased was clicking. The suspect asked a waiter at the restaurant to stop the deceased from taking photos. The deceased, however, refused to do so.
The suspect then approached the deceased and asked him to stop taking pictures. This led to an argument between them and the suspect assaulted the deceased. The victim crashed headfirst to the ground and lost consciousness.
Maj-Gen Al Mansouri said the deceased was rushed to the nearest hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.
The suspect has been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution.
