Karkala, August 19: The police with the help of activists from the Hindu organizations have rescued 35 buffaloes reported to be transported illegally to Kerala and were kept tied in a mountain.
These buffaloes were found tied in a mountain near Kallamulkur Shankarakariya in Belman.
Police have arrested Ibrahim (45) and Iliyas (40) in relation to this case.
From many years, Ibrahim was engaged in cattle business. Ibrahim had illegally gathered buffaloes in Sankalakariya at Mundkur in the taluk. After learning that Ibrahim was collecting cattle from various places and was illegally transporting them to a slaughter house in Kerala, the leaders and hundreds of activists from Hindu associations in a swift operation raided the spot and conveyed the information to the Karkala rural police.
Karkala police inspector Mahadev Shetty arrived at the spot and seized the buffaloes and informed that case would be registered against Ibrahim and Iliyas, who were involved in illegal cattle trafficking.
The leaders of the Hindu organizations have warned of massive protest if in future such illegal cattle transport and business are traced.
