Mangaluru, August 26: The manager of a Mall, Shakir who was assaulted on Monday near Attavara here has alleged that requesting for some monetary assistance; I was asked to come near KMC hospital and was later assaulted by a group belonging to Sangh Parivar. This is a pre planned act, he alleged.
Shakir stated that, “I am working as a manager of a Mall in Attavara from four years. On the evening of Monday after my work, while I was returning home, a female colleague phoned me, and said she was in immediate need of Rs 2000. So, I had been near KMC hospital in Attavara as insisted by the girl to hand over the money. As I was parking my car in front of the hospital, eight people who arrived in four two-wheelers, said to be from Sangh Parivar, forcibly opened the door of my car and asked my name. When I said Shakir, they suddenly pulled me out of the car and assaulted me. Later they dragged me and tied to an electric pole close by, and then stripped and assaulted me on my head with rods which they had brought. Then they assaulted using their hands, and also used stones”, said Shakir in a statement to the media.
“The group which had assaulted has snatched away cash Rs 2,000, watch and mobile phone from me. On Monday evening, at around 5.20 pm they tied me to a electric pole and assaulted me until around 6.45pm uttering ‘Jai Shree Ram’. The hundreds who gathered at the spot were watching the scene but none came to my rescue. Later sub-inspector from Pandeshwar police station arrived at the spot”, narrated Shakir.
“In the mall in which I work at Attavar, I am the only person from Muslim Community. Especially my position as the manager had caused dissatisfaction among some activists of Sangh Parivar. Over this matter, some people had questioned me in the past and had also insulted me. Due to all these incidents, the Sangh Parivar, taking the help from a staff from the same mall has asked me to arrive at the spot and then assaulted me.
