Legal Literacy Chariot and mobile people’s court campaign inaugurated.

Mangaluru, September 1: The Legal Literacy Chariot and the mobile people’s court campaign was inaugurated by the Family Court Chief Judge Bailur Shankararama at the premises of the D K district court premises here.

In the recent days, many crimes are taking place through the mobile calls and SMS and many people are becoming the victims of these frauds, in this view there is a need for amendment of the cyber crimes law, he said.

In Dakshina Kannada district, the Police Department has taken strict measures against the cyber crimes. There is a need for more awareness among the public regarding the laws. If there is knowledge on law, then there will not be the problem of moving to the court. In the modern situation, the old laws are amended; the aim of this law chariot is to educate the public. Already the chariot has traversed in Puttur, Sullia, Belthangady, and Bantwal taluks and currently will move in Mangaluru city till September 3rd and the entire taluk, he said.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said, it is said that the people of Dakshina Kannada are educated. But in the recent days, there are people who think that taking law into hands is its implementation. Incidents are taking place in which the legal problems instead of being settled in the court are being dealt on the streets. In such situations, awareness on law is utmost necessary, he said.

ASP Vincent Shantakumar said, knowledge on POCSO and Dalit atrocity act is necessary, it is very much necessary that the amendments in the law and information on the new laws must be educated to the public’s. During the investigations it is understood that people lack knowledge on the POCSO and Dalit atrocity act.

District Legal Service Authority member Secretary B Ganesh compeered the program.

President of Bar Association S P Chengappa, Assistant Director of Aakashavani Dr Vasanthkumar Perla, Director of Women’s and Children’s welfare- Sunder Poojary, Information Officer Khader Shah, Deputy Labour Commissioner D G Nagesh, President of Women’s Welfare  Association – Nikesh Shetty was present.
