Land dispute: Clashes erupt at Kadri, two injured, vehicles damaged.

Mangaluru, October 14: Two persons were injured after clash erupted between two groups on Wednesday October 14th in Kadri here over land dispute. A bus and tempo were also damaged in the incident.

It is gathered that a land at Kadri Kambala has been claimed by two parties namely P V Mohan and Somayaji Bhat, and Angelina T Rego whose family has a tyres business. Many tyres were stored at this land and the MCC health department had issued a notice to remove them before the spot could become breeding hub for mosquitoes.

The health officers on Wednesday went to the spot to inspect, and noticed that the tyres were not removed. On receiving information, people belonging to both parties began to gather at the spot. Soon arguments over the land turned into a full-fledged fight and some people pelted stones. A bus and a tempo was damaged in the incident.

The Kadri police rushed at the spot, dispersed the mob and took the situation under control.

It is learnt that the officers returned without taking any action.

According to the police sources, it is said that, P V Mohan and Somayaji Bhat in their complaint have claimed that the land belonged to them, and that tyres were being illegally stored there.

In a counter complaint, Angelina stated that the said land belonged to her family and alleged that P V Mohan, Somayaji Bhat and their group had illegally come to their property and assaulted them. She also stated that the group damaged her family’s vehicles.

Complaints from both the parties have been accepted by Kadri police and investigations are underway.
