Suratkal: Clashes erupt between people of two communities.

Mangaluru, October 20: Clashes erupted between persons belonging to two communities at Chitrapur near Suratkal on the night of Monday October 19th, over a petty issue. Five persons were injured in the incident and are admitted to hospital.

It is said, two girls belonging to a community used to pay frequent visit to a shop at Chitrapur where their friends, three girls were working. The shop is owned by a person belonging to another community. One among the three girls, who work there, belongs to a different community.

It is gathered that the two girls during their visit to the shop were frequently warned against visiting the shop by some people of their community as they claimed that the shop owner would also reportedly converse with the girls. On the evening of Monday, the girls again went to the shop. When objections were raised by people of one community; people of other community also gathered at the spot. Soon arguments turned into a clash.

The police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.

Five men were injured in the incident and among them; Pushparaj and Bharath have been admitted to a hospital in Suratkal, while three others, namely Shamshuddin, Altaf, and Ajmal have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Former minister Krishna J Palemar and others visited Bharath and Pushparaj in the hospital.

A case has been registered by Suratkal police.
