Two labourers expire during drainage repair works.

Mangaluru, November 2: Two labourers expired when a water pipeline burst during underground drainage repair work near Central railway station, Hampankatta here on Monday afternoon, November 2nd.

The deceased are identified as Raghu from Badami and Babu, from north Karnataka.

It is learnt that while the MCC labourers were engaged in removing the mud at the spot, a pipeline connecting Pandeshwar and Wenlock hospital burst all of sudden. The duos were surrounded with water and the mud also fell on them. As a result, both got burried alive below the mud.

Although the fire service and police rushed to the spot and undertook rescue operations, the workers could not be saved.

MLA J R Lobo, Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, and others visited the spot.
