Mangaluru, November3: During the double murder that took place in Mangaluru sub-jail, an undertrial who was believed to have escaped was found to be hiding at the spot.
The undertrail Basheer Ahmed was arrested six months ago by Kerala police in relation to a theft that took place in Kannur, Kerala. But as theft case was registered against him in Ullal police station, he was kept in Mangaluru sub-jail.
During the fight that took place in Mangaluru sub-jail yesterday, the roofing tiles of the cell were also damaged.
But as the murder took place in front of him, Basheer was in a shock after he witnessed it and had hidden himself in the spot, it is learnt.
