Bantwal, December 9: An attempt to murder a youth by a gang took place at Maripalla here, on Wednesday, December 9th.
The injured person is Haneef alias Mada Haneef (38), a resident of Perimar.
It is learnt, On December 9th, Haneef’s brother Hakeem dropped Haneef at the shop located near Maripalla junction on Wednesday morning. Soon after, group of about 11 persons armed with weapons came in an Alto car and bikes and attacked Haneef with machetes.
Critically injured Haneef was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.
It is learnt; Haneef was one of the accused in the Rifai murder case and was in prison for 18 months. Twenty days ago, he was released from the jail.
ASP Vincent Shantakumar, Banwal circle inspector Beliappa and other police personnel visited the spot and investigated.
A case has been registered by Bantwal rural police.
