Kundapur, December 10: Police have arrested a youth who was torturing a minor girl from few months to lure her into his love, who allegedly entered into her house and tried to rape her. This incident took place in Siddapur in the taluk.
The arrested youth is identified as Sudhakar Shetty (23) from Vandaru.
Case details: Sudhakar Shetty from Vandaru was employed in a hotel near Siddapura. He was staying in a rented house in Siddapura. From few months, he loved a minor girl who stayed close to his house. The minor girl reportedly belonged to dalit community. He had also given a letter to the minor girl and was torturing her to love him. The 16-year–old girl who is studying in tenth standard in Siddapur was fed up of his torture. Two days ago, the youth without permission entered the house of the girl and threatened her and also tried to rape her, it is said. On hearing the girl shouting for help, the neighbours and the girl’s family rushed to the house, but by then the accused had tried to escape from the spot.
The girls family filed complaint with the Shankaranarayana police and who arrested the accused and booked him under POCSO act.
