Mangaluru, December 21: A college student drowned in a pond at Belvai Math in Moodbidri while swimming with his friends on the evening of Sunday December 20th.
Akash Rai (17), son of BJP leader Manjunath Rai, a resident of Muramelu, Kotebagilu in Moodbidri is the deceased youth. Akash was a student of Mahaveer College studying in first year BCom.
It is said, Akash had been to the pond for a swim at the Belvali Math along with his friends. He got drowned while swimming. Efforts made by his friends to rescue him went in vain, sources said.
The body was shifted to Moodbidri government hospital.
A case has been registered by Moodbidri police.
