Serial accident near Thumbay- One expired, another critically injured

Bantwal, January 01: A youth expired and another sustained serious injuries in a serial accident that took place at Ramalkatte near Thumbay here on Thursday December 31st.

The deceased is identified as Monsy (21) from Kottayam, Kerala. Suresh, a resident of Ramalkatte, suffered serious injuries. Suresh was riding the bike while Monsy was sitting pillion.

Monsy and Suresh were engaged in work related to manufacture of cement rings used in wells, it is gathered.

It is gathered that, on Thursday, Monsy and Suresh were riding the bike on the highway at Ramalkatte. Meanwhile, a Eicher truck collided head-on to their bike when they were trying to move from the right at the highway turning. As an impact of collision, both fell on to the road and sustained serious injuries, said the eyewitnesses.

Both were rushed to a hospital, where Monsy passed away. After giving initial treatment, Suresh was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru, it is learnt.

After the Eicher truck collided to the bike, the driver of a private bus that was behind the truck applied brakes suddenly. Meanwhile, a KSRTC bus that was moving behind the private bus collided to the private bus from behind. The buses were partially damaged. No other injuries were reported.

After the accident, traffic on the highway was affected for sometime.

Sub-inspector of Bantwal rural police station, Rakshith A K along with traffic police arrived at the spot, and made way for the traffic.

Bantwal traffic police have registered a case.
