Yuvaraj Puttur and Amrutha Krishnamurthy elected as President & Vice President of Udupi CMC

Udupi;Sept 12 : Yuvaraj Puttur of Subramanya ward and Amrutha Krishnaraj of Kinnimulki ward have been unanimously elected as President and Vice president respectively in city municipal council election, held on September 12,Thursday.

Out of 35 members in the council, 32 members were present and two members were absent. Since BJP candidates have not submitted their nominations, these two contestants have been elected unopposed. Six months after the local body elections to Udupi Municipal council (CMC) the post of President and Vice President have finally been filled.Both are from Congress party

On the occasion Pramodh Madhwaraj, MLA while congratulating the winners said that Rs 90 crore has been sanctioned in the cabinet for the second phase of drinking water and drainage project.

While speaking to the media newly elected Yuvaraj Puttur said in his speech that “I will try my level best to give prominence for the basic facilities like developmental works of roads and drinking water projects and assuring corruption free administration.

Meanwhile, addressing the media personnel newly elected Vice President Amrutha Krishnamurthy said in her address that providing corruption free and pro-people administration, efforts to provide 24 hours hassle free supply of drinking water to the citizens and arrangement for the proper disposal of garbage etc are my area of priorities, she said.

Opposition party leader R Pai who has been elected unopposed, while congratulating the winners said that though we are from opposition parties, we are not going to oppose each and every activities of the cabinet and extend our full support for the constructive works being undertaken by the cabinet. Implementation of paperless project in CMC has not yet been done.

He further said Raghupati Bhat and Dr V S Achar have done many developmental works. Some of them have been completed and some are in progress and in final stage of completion and those projects can be implemented without any hesitation, he added

Shreekanth Rao, municipal commissioner said in his speech that we will always extend our co-operation and guidance for making Udupi municipal council as the model council in the region.
