Kundapur; Oct 06: Participating in the ‘Parents-school Management’s meet” to discuss about the roles of parents and schools on sexual torture on minors, held at Haattiyangadi Shree siddivinayaka residential school on Oct 05,Saturday,Dr.Viroopaksha Devaramane , a renowned, famous psychologist said in his speech that in recent days as the number of instances of sexual harassment on school, college going minors are on rise ,the role of parents and schools, plays an important factor in preventing such activities. There should be a concern on children but should not be an anxiety, he said.
He further said that parents should keep a watch on children’s movements. The children should be given proper awareness about the strangers and evil things in and around the society, which are happening. Through open discussion with children without hiding anything, it is possible to take preventive steps in schools and in the surrounding areas of our residence.
The instances of sexual atrocities on minors at the tender age will take a heavy toll on the entire life of the victims. Therefore it is always better to take precautions before any sexual torture takes place, he added.
While speaking, Udupi DYSP Dr.Prabhudeva Mane said that instead of keeping instances of sexual atrocities secrete, it is always advisable to report the matter to the police station. There should not be any hesitation in this regard, if needed even the names of accused also will not be disclosed, he informed.
