Bangalore, October 6: People from all walks of life, including Mayor B.S. Satyanarayana, actor Malavika and Paralympic swimmer Krishna Reddy, participated in a walkathon held on Sunday to mark National Cerebral Palsy Day that was observed on October 2.
The walkathon was part of a series of activities organised by the Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy (IACP) in association with Allergan India to create awareness about the disability. Children affected with cerebral palsy participated.
A release said that there are 17 million people across the world living with cerebral palsy, and another 350 million people are closely connected to a child or adult with the disability – said to be the most common physical disability in childhood. Its impact can range from a weakness in one hand to almost a complete lack of voluntary movement.
