Mangalore, Nov 5: Two people were brutally attacked by a group of four with sword and knife in front of Foto Flash in Kodialbail on Nov 5, Tuesday.
The injured person has been identified as Lathif. Nazir who was with him managed to escape.
Lathif and Nazir were accused in a case, for which the hearing was scheduled today. After the hearing at the court, the two were on the way to their home located at Ullal when the group attacked them.
Lathif has been seriously injured at neck and legs and his condition is said to be critical, while Nasir, sustained some minor injuries are said to be taking treatment at Yenepoya Hospital, Kodialbail.
Sources said that in 2004, an attempt was made on BJP leader Chandrashekar Uchil’s life, for which Lathif and Nazir along with a few other persons were arrested. It was in connection with this case that Tuesday’s attack took place.
Barke police rushed to the spot and further investigations are on.
