Hyderabad: A third storm is set to hit Andhra Pradesh in just two months on Thursday, bringing along with it strong winds and heavy rainfall. Severe cyclonic storm ‘Lehar’, which is currently over the south-east Bay of Bengal — 100 km from Port Blair — has winds ranging from 140-180 kmph and is 1,200 km away from Machilipatnam in Krishna district, where it will make landfall.

Cyclone ‘Helen’ had also made landfall at Machilipatnam. Met Department officials warned ‘Lehar’ would be more powerful than ‘Helen’, and has asked the state to brace for heavy rainfall in coastal areas.
