Udupi; Dec 05: In a joint operation by child labour eradication unit and children protection samiti, 14 children and women, who were begging in Udupi and Manipal region have been taken under their custody on Dec 04, Wednesday.
The beggars who were harassing people in city bus stand, near Krishna Mutt including service bus stand and other parts of the Udupi and Manipal have been taken under the custody.
Prabhakar Acharya from labour department, Keshava Kotian, Premananda Kalmady and among others were present.
There is big net work of bringing the beggars from outside state and make them to beg. In this regard concerned department should conduct an investigation and only by taking them under custody, problem will not be getting resolved.
