‘Jana Nudi’ by Abhimatha inaugurated today

Mangalore, Dec 14: The ‘Jana Nudi’ programme was organized under the banner of Abhimatha, Mangalore inaugurated at Kalaangann hall at Shaktinagar here on Saturday December 14.

Speaking on the occasion litterateur Dr H S Anupama said that the Jana Nudi programme is not just against the commercialization of Nudi Siri but also against all the programmes related to cultural, literature and the main intention of it is just commercial.

She further said that there is an unholy practice to bring fundamentalism, capitalism and even politics into literature and culture. Literature goes beyond any religion, politics and capitalism. The purpose of literature is to bring positive change. If that is not done, the next generation will be misled she added.

Literature and activism are the two faces of the coin, both are interlinked. If one element is lost every purpose will get defeated Anupama said.

Dr Rajendra Chenni, professor, Kuvempur University inaugurated the programme. In his speech he said, today, the literary works are influenced by market driven elements including communalism. Literature should be appreciated not for its aesthetic beauty but for its inner truth he added.

Writer Sara Aboobakker said that till now no talks held to discuss about the issues like communalism, Padil home stay attack, endosulfan issue, the problems of Dalits and ‘Made Snana. But for this cultural festival they are spending crore of rupees.

Prof S G Siddaramaiah, former president of Kannada Books Authority presided over the function.

Writers Kadidalu Shamanna and Lakshminarayana Nagavara were present at the occasion.
