Mangalore, Dec. 17: 15 achievers across the state will be honored with Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri-Virasat Awards at Vidyagiri, Moodbidri on December 22, said Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Trust, on Tuesday December 17.
Addressing a press meet at press club he said that Poet Dr H S Venkatesh Murthy, Dr D K Chowta, Hiremagalur Kannan, Moodnakodu Chinnaswami, T N Seetharam, Fakir Ahmed Katapady, Dr B M Hegde, Jayanth Kaikini, Uma Kulkarni, Pune, Dr Kamala Hampana, Dr P Dayanand Pai, Dr Na Mogasale, Kumble Sundar Rao, organizations Mangalore Basel Mission and Shimoga Karnataka Sangha will be honoured with Nudisiri-Virasat Awards, he said.
The Nudisiri-Virasat Awards comprising of Rs 25,000 cash prize, a memento and a citation. State minister for Kannada and culture Umashri will inaugurate the event on December 20, while Dr Vinay Hegde of Nitte University will preside over the event. Convention president Dr B A Vivek Rai, outgoing DC N Prakash, Sarvottham Shetty, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, and Raj Kumar, president of Bahrain Kannada Sangha will grace the occasion.
Dr M Veerappa Moily, union minister for petroleum and natural gas will deliver the valedictory address. The event will comprise of three convention sessions, four discussions and variety of cultural events.
Literatteurs, scholars, writers and poets from all over the state and country will participate in Vishwa Nudisiri-Virasat, he added.
Amarnath Shetty, Chengappa AD, Venugopal, Na Damodhar Shetty were present at the press meet.
