Mangalore, Dec 25: One person was killed, injuring four other in an oil tanker accident occurred due to brake failure at Gurpurpete on December 25,Wednesday.
During the incident, the oil tanker also demolished Suvarna tailoring shop and Swagat tea stall located in the area and also damaged two cars.
According to the eyewitnesses, an empty oil tanker bearing the Tamil Nadu registration was moving towards Mangalore and its brake failed at Gurpurpete. Sice the tanker was on high speed, the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into Maruti Eco and a Swift, injuring the passengers present in it.
In oder to avoid more damages, driver tried to take it in other direction and hit two women near the bus stop, killing one on the spot and critically injuring the other.
The injured were rushed to AJ Hospital for treatment.
Fire service and Bajpe police rushed to the spot and registered the case.
