Bangalore, January 1, 2014: Notwithstanding its tall claims of being one of the best police force in the country, the Bangalore City police has not been able to crack a couple of sensational crimes that took place in 2013, including the murders of social activist and editor of Urdu magazine Makhzan Shamshul Huda and Rector of St Peter’s Pontifical Seminary in Yeshwathpur K.J. Thomas.
The investigation into Mr. Huda’s murder at his office in on Tannery Road in D.J. Halli in July has almost reached a dead-end. The policeare yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
63-year-old Huda, a resident of Shivajinagar, had left home at around 7.30 a.m. to his office. According to the police, the murder came to light, when the computer operator of the office, who arrived at around 10.45 a.m., found Huda lying in a pool of blood in his cabin with a deep injury on his neck.
The body bore multiple cut injuries which indicated torture by assailants before he was killed.
Mr. Huda had published some articles and led protests against the crisis-ridden Amanath Cooperative Bank . His family and relatives have alleged that he used to get threatening calls. The D.J. Halli police found that his mobile phone was missing. Initially the police were positive that the assailant could easily be tracked through mobile phone. Likewise, the murder of Rector K.J. Thomas in the Pontifical Seminary premises in Malleswaram in April this year too has remained a mystery .Though the city police have identified a group of suspects and subjected them to the Narco Analysis test, they did not find any incriminating evidence to prove their involvement.
