Udupi; Jan 03: Pura Pravesha programme of Shree Vidhyavallabha Tirtha Swami of Kaniyur Math, who will ascend the Paryaya Peetha at Sri Krishna Math/temple on January 18, was held near Jodukatte on Jan 02, Thursday with great pomp and gaiety.
Swamiji,who arrived at Jodukatte was welcomed by Vinaya Kumar Sorake,minister for urban development and District in charge, legislator Pramodh Madhwaraj,CMC president Yuvaraj,CMC commissioner Shreekanth Rao,former MLA Raghupati Bhat,Pradeep Kumar Kalkura,Yashpal Suvarna along with other prominent dignitaries with all due respects and honors.
After the grand Purapravesha, in procession, Swamiji was taken in open decorated carriage and the presiding deity of the Kaniyur Math, Sri Yoga Narasimha, was carried in a golden palanquin, was brought to Car Street. The procession, which started from Jodukatte, passed through Court Road, taluk office road, Diana circle, Ideal circle and Tenkapete road before culminating at Car Street.
In the grand traditional procession, Dharmasthala elephant, Thatiraya, Mangalore special Chende team, Music band sets. Arc trumpet,horn,Nasik band,Bhajan team,Kilu Kudre,colourful umbrellas,masks,Puja Kunitha,Dollu Kunitha,Navilu Kunitha,puppets,Mahishasura and puttani,Yakshagana dolls,Talim,woodenlegs along with other different dances etc have added colour to the procession and were very attractive.
Along with the procession, Swamiji who entered the Car Street, had a Darshan of Sri Krishna through Kanakana Kindi and visited the Sri Chandramouleshwara Temple and Sri Anantheshwara temple and offered his prayers. From there, in the evening at around 6.23 pm, he entered the Math.
In the night, Vidhyavallabha Thirtha Swamiji was honored on behalf of city Municipal corporation council with civil honour in Car Street’s Sri Narasimha Mantap.
