Kundapur; Jan 05: After unfurling the flag on the occasion of founder’s day celebration of Kodi Beary’s group of institutions and 107 anniversary ‘ Vikas 21’programme on Jan 04,Saturday,Kimmane Ratnakar, minister for state’s primary and high school education said in his address that today whole society Should turn towards education. Government alone cannot develop government schools without the co-operation of public and government is contemplating programmes to give quality education, he said.
Further he said that there are 50 thousand government schools in the State. In order to refurbish all these schools with lime coat atleast, around Rs 1500 crore money is required and for the complete renovation of these schools Rs 6000 crore is required. This work cannot be carried out at a time. For that efforts and planning are being taking place.
In the entire state a total of 1.4 crore students are there from first standard to 12th standard classes. This is 1/6 part of total population of the state. 7 crore students are availing the benefits of Akshara Dasoha programme,which was started in the year 2002.49 incidents of deaths and illness have been reported so far from this programme.
In government schools there are 25 thousand shortages of teachers. Government has already appointed 12 thousand guest teachers. With this appointment some of the problems have been eased. Shortly they will be made permanent. Service period of the teachers, who were supposed to retire in September, has been extended up to March 31 in the interest of students. Due to this policy, government has to bear extra burden of Rs 120 crore, said Kimmane
In the state a total of Rs 14,433 crore required for primary education. In this, for teachers salary Rs 11 thousand crore,uniforms Rs 9 crore,for books Rs 90 crore, for cycle Rs 173 crore,like this on and average Rs 14-15 thousand is spending on one child.

Attempted for suicide by teachers are fools:
The teachers, who demanded grant-in-aid for salary in unaided schools committed suicide by consuming poison, are fools. Suicide is not the solution to solve the problems. If Indians have committed suicide, for not getting the freedom, nobody would have been there in the country. Then the entire India would have been in the hand of British, said Kimmane sarcastically
Such teachers cannot teach the children. They only passed, they have not read the matters, this is our tragedy, he taunted.
