Kundapur; Jan 25: Though the controversy over the re-naming of the Kundapur main road with taluk Navanirmana pioneer Yadthare Manjayya Shetty was raging in the previous regular municipality meetings, the matter was subsidized with the consent for the same from all the members including opposition in the regular meeting held on Jan 24, Friday.
In the meeting, member Vijaya.S.Poojary, while discussing on the topic said that there is no objection for re-naming the main road with Yadthare Manjayya Shetty but the road has already become famous, popular by Municipal road. Instead, he has suggested re-naming the road from Kundapur Shastri circle to Shenoy circle with Yadthare Manjayya Shetty. Member Shridhar Sheregar seconded the proposal.
Senior member Mohandas Shenoy while speaking said that the proposal should be considered worthy of the municipal administration. Similarly, road between Shenoy circle to new bus stand should be re-named with K.L.Karanth in reorganization of his substantial contribution towards the growth of Kundapur. All the members in the meeting added sounds to this proposal.
Responding to the demands of the members, Kalavati.U.S, president of the municipal corporation said in her speech that many applications have been received for the re-naming of the main road like Yadthare Manjayya Shetty, Atal Bihari Vajapayee, K.L.Karanth and Venkataramana temple road. After reviewing all the applications suitable decision will be taken in consultation with members, she said.
Nagaraja Kamadhenu, vice president of Municipal Corporation said in his speech that nobody raised an objection for Yadthare Manjayya Shetty’s name and unnecessarily created an atmosphere of confusion, dispute and appealed, no such incident should recur in the future.
Stick with honest officials:
The matter about the transfer of Municipal Corporation’s engineer Raghavendra was hotly debated.Nagaraja Kamadhenu, vice president of the CMC while discussing, contended that if the Kundapur Municipal Corporation was recognized at state and national level, engineer’s role was paramount important for that. The bad news about the conspiracy of his transfer has already been spread, he said and appealed to the authorities to retain the honest officers.
Responding instantly to vice president, member Sandeep Kody has insisted first to clarify, who is conspiring and how and why this matter has come up for discussion here?
Member Shridhar Sheregar, while speaking contended that in the past an honest and respected rector Rayappa was transferred. Members of that period are still here. At that time, nobody has opened their mouth on his behalf and why he is so keen about this person, I can’t understand, he said.
In this regard, a war of words took place between member Raghavendra Devadiga and Sandeep Kody.Udaya Mendon, president of standing committee intervened in between and said that all the efforts were made to retain Rayappa and hoped that Raghavendra should also continue to be remain here only, he said.
Senior member Mohandas Shenoy, Satish Shetty and member Chandrashekar Kharvi pulled the curtain on the dispute.
