Corporation Bank Celebrates Republic Day and Distributes Utility Items to Abhaya Asharaya in Mangalore

Mangalore : Corporation Bank celebrated 65th Republic Day at its Corporate Office in Mangalore. Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank unfurled the National tricolour in the presence of Shri Amar Lal Daultani and Shri B K Srivastav, Executive Directors. The General Managers, Executives & Employees of the Bank were present on the occasion.

Corporation Bank has set up a wing named “Corp Kiran” – An association of Wives of Senior Executives of Corporation Bank under CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) for undertaking CSR activities. On the occasion, the emblem of “Corp Kiran” was inaugurated by Smt. Sumitra Bansal, President, Corp Kiran in the presence of Smt. Kanchan Daultani, Vice President, Corp Kiran. Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank, Shri Amar Lal Daultani and Shri B K Srivastav, Executive Directors of the Bank were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank said that the Bank has named its CSR Wing as Corp Kiran which means a ray of hope. Through Corp Kiran it plans to serve the poor and the weaker sections of the society.

On the occasion of Republic Day, the members of “Corp Kiran” distributed books, chairs and utility items to the inmates of ‘Abhaya Ashraya’ in Assaigoli, near Deralakatte in Mangalore. Abhaya Ashraya has been serving the destitute senior citizens and children by providing them shelter, healthcare and vocational training with residential facilities to enabling them to lead a secured life. The Ashraya’s wing at “Assaigoli” has more than 125 inmates which include children and senior citizens. The members of Corp Kiran also spent time with them and shared lunch with the inmates.

“Corp Kiran” has units in corporate office as well as at the circles and zones of the Bank. The CSR activities include provision of food and clothing for the poor school children, orphanages, old age homes, destitute homes, physically challenged people and medical help to people in distress from the weaker section of society. Organizing health checkup, blood donation camps, community developmental activities benefiting poor and the disabled, green initiatives like tree plantation drives, maintaining greenery, engaging in empowerment activities like vocational trainings, adult education programmes etc. are some of the activities that it will carry out.

Support of Banks’ employees / ex-employees, their family members, NGOs, SHGs, State Governments, District Administration, local bodies etc., will be enlisted for execution of te projects.

Corporation Bank has been associating itself with several organizations that work for the welfare of the society, to fulfill its obligation as a responsible corporate citizen. The Bank has already been in the forefront in involving in issues concerning the welfare of the society and responding to the needs of the people, particularly the underprivileged sections of the society, as part of its corporate social responsibilities.
