Mangalore, Feb 5: Members of the Karnataka State Electricity Employees’ Union and Electricity Employees Federation of India in association with CITU staged a protest condemning the double standards adopted by the officials of MESCOM towards the poor employees in in front of the MESCOM Head Office on February 5, Wednesday.
Addressing the protestors, BM Bhat, Honorary President of Karnataka State Electricity Employees’ Union demanded the concerned authority to increase the minimum pay offered to contract workers of MESCOM.
He also urged to pay the additional travel allowance for meter readers and provide job security to the employees.
The MESCOM must provide a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs to the children of Deviprasad, an employee who died on duty at Sullia recently.
Mahesh, Secretary, Vasanth Acharya, Jerry Patrao, Prakash, Lokesh Hebbar and others participated in the protest.
