Karkala: Nitte team ready for ‘ All-Terrain Vehicle’ competition

Karkala; Feb 05: Indian Society of Automative Engineers institution has organized a ‘Road Baja-14’ in Indore for the engineering degree students from Feb 20 to 25.

A ‘Team Nitte Racing’ comprising of 25 students from Nitte Engineering College has prepared for participation in ‘All-Terrain Vehicle competition’ under the leadership of Pavan.V.P, a final year student of Mechanical engineering division.

The vehicle, which was prepared by 22 mechanical students and 3 students from E&C department of the team, was unveiled on Feb 03, Monday in the premises of Nitte Engineering College. Nitte University Chancellor and president of Nitte educational institutions N.Vinaya Hegde has unveiled the vehicle.

Dr.Niranjan.N.Chiplunkar, principal of the engineering college, Dr.Sudhesh Bekal, Dean, research and development department, Dr.Subramanya Bhat, HOD of mechanical engineering department and department heads of various divisions were present on the occasion. Every year Indian Society of Automotive engineering was organizing Global Baja programme.This time 25 students from Nitte engineering college will participate in ‘Baja series of road single 4 wheel racing vehicle.

This car was built at the cost of Rs 4.5 lac by the students in college’s workshop under the guidance of Dr.M.K. Parashurama within 6 months efforts. 305cc,10 HP and single cylinder vehicle can run maximum up to 60 K.M per hour.Mryuthunjaya.H.S will be the driver of this vehicle, informed Pawan P.V.leader of the team to media reporters.

Though Team Nitte racing participated in the competition last year, it could not make it to the final. But this year by rectifying last year’s mistakes, the new team which prepared the vehicle will participate in five day’s tough competition in Indore with great confidence of winning.

125 engineering college teams have been selected for the competition, which will be starting on Feb 20.Out of the 7 college teams selected from Karnataka, one team is from Nitte engineering college. This year, they are confident of giving better performance in the contest, team members said.
