Mangalore, Mar 1: Three Congress candidates including veteran Congress leader Janardhan Poojary, new entrant Harsha Moily and businessman U Kanachur Monu filed their nominations on February 28, Friday, for the internal election or primary, which will decide the eligible candidate with Congress ticket to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Mangalore.
The three congress candidates submitted their nominations to the Lok Sabha returning officers Preniel Nair and Pramod Kumar.
Speaking to the media, Congress leader Janardhan Poojary said that he is confident that the support of party men and the blessings of people of the district will surely help him to win the internal election and the Lok Sabha election as well.
He also said that Congress members have the responsibility of choosing the right leader for the constituency. The election process will not just be held in Mangalore but will be held in 16 constituencies across the country.
Another candidate U K Monu, said that Congress party has provided us an opportunity to participate in the election and confident of winning giving no space for losing it.
He also said that once the result of internal election is out, we will support the winner wholeheartedly and work with unity to defeat BJP.
Third candidate Harsha Moily, son of union minister Dr M Veerappa Moily said that he has met all members of taluk panchayat, zilla panchayat, Youth Congress and block Congress committees and he finds no reason to withdraw his participate in the election as a candidate.
Speaking on Nethravathi River Diversion project, he said those projects will not creat problem to Coastal region, since it is just a project to provide drinking water and this needed to clarified among the people.
The final list of candidates will be displayed at Congress office on March 2. The internal election will be held on March 9 and the announced on the day of the election.
