Mangalore/Puttur, April 18: Shakuntala Shetty, a newly joined Congress Candidate from Puttur Constituency has accused DV Sadananda of spreading malicious propaganda against her to tarnish the name just in the sole purpose of destroying her political career. With this type of fabricated stories and untrue allegations, he drove me out of BJP, she lamented.
Addressing a meeting of Congress workers held at Jain Bhavan after filing her nomination papers on April 17, Wednesday, she said that instead of spreading baseless campaign and tarnishing my reputation, he should have contested against me, if he really had any self respect and the guts, lashed congress leader from Puttur constituency.
The BJP demoralized leaders, who are always pre-occupied with kissing, dancing and viewing of pornographic videos, have no right to make an allegation against me, she commented.
Based on my self respect and high moral value, congress has given an opportunity to contest the election. Motive of re-entering the political field once again is to get back what I have lost when I was in BJP.
In a strongly worded statement she said DVS instead of fighting opposite me, has fielded a incapable, dummy candidate as BJP candidate. If, he had any moral ethics or guts, he should have directly contested against me, she assailed.
Thanking Congress for providing her a chance to fight the election she said it is the responsibility of every congress worker to work for her victory.
Kavu Hemanath Shetty-President, Puttur block congress, who was supposed to contest assembly election till recently, said that there is no ambiguity amongst party workers over Shakuntala shetty’s candidature and she is the unanimous choice for all of us and we all will put our hard work for her victory and thereby make congress party victorious, he said.
N.Sudhakar Shetty-former president of Puttur block Congress, Kadamajalu Subhas Rai-member, Muhammad Badagannur-taluk panchayat member, Samathadka Gopalakrishna, a veteran leader also spoke on the occasion and motivated the party workers to work hard for the victory of the party in the ensuing election. About seventy five people who were identified with Swabhimani Vedike also joined congress along with their leader Shakuntala shetty.Hemanath shetty and Pravinchandra Alva welcomed the new members by handing over them the party flags.
Muhammed Ali,Anita Hemanath Shetty,Somanath,Pravinchandra Alva,Durgaprasad Rai,Sri Ram Pakkala,Lancy Mascarenhas and among others were present on the dais.
