VARANASI: Ram Navami celebrated with religious fervour

VARANASI: The festival of Ram Navami was celebrated with religious fervour in the city on Friday. Devotees performed hawan and other rituals and celebrated Lord Ram’s birthday.

Kanya pujan and mass feasts were also held in various temples and houses to mark the festivity. Temples in the city were decked up with flowers and devotional articles. Heavy rush of devotees was witnessed at Tulsi Manas temple and various other Lord Ram temples. The three-day Navtratra Mahotsav of the Art of Living also concluded on Friday. Meanwhile, to mark the occasion, an attractive procession of the Ramkatha Mandakini Shobha Yatra was carried out from Tulsi ghat to Rajghat from river Ganga. The procession was flagged off from Tulsi ghat after bhajan recital and Ganga Aarti.

Vice chancellor, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Dr Lalji Singh also offered prayers to Goddess Durga at Vishwanath temple on the occasion.
