Mangalore, March 21: In two separate cases, the Customs officials arrested a passenger and seize gold totally weighing 529.640 grams, valued at Rs.15, 78,327 at Mangalore International Airport on March 21, Friday.
In the first case, the officials arrested a passenger identified as Davood Abdul Khader Ibrahim, a resident of Subaida Manzil, Deli Junction, Paravanadukkam Post, Kasaragod, who had arrived by Jet Airways fight 9W531 from Dubai at4.45 pm.
The officials have seized gold pieces, totally weighing 298.450 grams and valued at Rs 8,89,381 concealed in chocolates and further concealed in a carton box from the passenger’s possession.
In the second case, the officers have arrested Abdur Rahman Kunnil Abdul Khader, a resident of KK House, Ward No.15, Theruvath, Koyas Lane, Thalangara PO, Kasaragod and seized Gold strips, totally weighing 231.190 grams and valued at Rs 6, 88,946 concealed in two Photo frames and three eyeliner bottles kept in a carton box from the possession of a passenger arrived by Jet Airways fight 9W531 from Dubai.
Operations were conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Customs Krishna Kumar Prasad, led by Krishna Kumar Prasad, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport and were lead by Superintendent B Prabhakara Poojary along with Superintendents Lionel Fernandes, Sendhil Murugan, B.A.Kariappa, H.G.Yogesh and Inspectors G.Kumaraswamy, K.T.Preethi Suma, S.Ranjan Behera and Ankit Kumar and Hawaldar Gulabi.
