Udupi : Kaup police seized the amount of Rs 20 lakhs being illegally transported in a lorry on March 25, Tuesday.
On receiving the information, Kaup police led by inspector Sunil Nayak stopped the lorry plying from Udupi to Baikampady and inspected at Muloor and the amount under the driver’s seat.
Police took the driver Shantaram for questioning and seized the money. It is suspected that the cash being taken for distribution in relation to the general elections.
According to the driver, he had parked the lorry near his house at Kaup on Monday night and took it for unloading in the morning and has no idea for money and person behind it.
Driver was handed over to Padubidri police for further investigation
