Mangalore, Apr 15: CAMPCO president Konkodi Padmanabha said that the farmers and the areca growers of the district must exercise their franchise in favour to elect Narendra Modi as the prime minister of India who can safeguard the interests of the areca growers.
Speaking at a press meet held at Hotel Ocean Pearl on April 15, Tuesday, he said that in spite of urging and submitting the memorandum against ban on areca, Congress led Union Government has not been responsible enough in handling the issue in the parliament. The congress government has not even appointed an advocate to fight the case on behalf of the growers.
He also said that the government has also failed to withdraw the affidavit stating that areca is harmful Apart from it, the leaders of the ruling party also blamed CAMPCO and MAMCOS for the areca distribution. Hence the areca growers must elect the leader who can benefit them.
CAMPCO vice president K Satishchandra Bhandary and Shimoga MAMCOS Vice President Narasimha Nayak were present.
