Koteshwar, May.10: Generally we see roots on the bottom of a tree, but here its different, a tree has grown jack fruits from its root. Jack fruits normally hang from the tree. But amazingly the jack fruit tree in the backyard of Koteshwar resident Ramesh Bhat has more than 10 jack fruits from its roots. People are attracted towards this tree and expressing their surprise.
Jack fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world, weighing up to 80 pounds. It is cultivated in India as early as 6000 years ago. The tree bearing jack fruit can produce 150 fruits a year.
