Bangalore(DHNS): A group of Congress legislators on Saturday met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and urged him to order a CID probe into the alleged illegal grant of land by BJP leader Jagadish Shettar at Srigandhadakaval in Bangalore at a throwaway price during his tenure as chief minister.
Later speaking to reporters, party leaders H M Revanna and V S Ugrappa said the market value of four acres land granted by Shettar to the son of a freedom fighter was about Rs 100 crore. But the then government charged only Rs 6 crore for it and the money was paid by some builder on behalf of the freedom fighter’s son, they said. Moreover, the granted land was not agricultural as claimed by Shettar.
It has been converted for non-agricultural use long ago. Prima facie it shows that money has changed hands and kickbacks have been paid. Hence, a CID probe should be conducted to bring out the truth and punish the guilty, Revanna said.
The Urban Development Department had recommended to the government not to grant the land to Sundaresh, son of freedom fighter, Suryanarayan.
