Major ceasefire violation: Pakistan troops attack 22 BSF posts, 2 civilians killed

Jammu: A major ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in the R.S Pura sector of Jammu has led to the death of two civilians and injured a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, who is currently undergoing treatment.

Five members of the same family were injured in the latest ceasefire violation, out of whom the father and son succumbed to their injuries.

The injured persons and the BSF jawan were taken to the Jammu medical college hospital for treatment.

Priya Choudhary, a local resident said, “Firing is going continuously. We are from other village but we are staying here but the situation is same. Our lives are in danger. All our family members are not safe. We want that government should provide us some safe place.”

Another local resident also added, “So much firing is going on, we are not able to go out. They just come in evening promise everything but give nothing. Its 6 a.m now and I cannot even go to my house to drink water.”

However, Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar specified that all possible help was being given to the injured.

Ajit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, said, “Five members of the same family were injured out of whom the father and son died. A BSF jawan has also been injured. We are trying to make arrangements for the residents to take them to a safe place. We are trying to provide relief to the injured as far as the damage is concerned.”

The Pakistani troops reportedly targeted 22 posts of the BSF in the Arnia and R.S Pura sectors of Jammu district, in one of the worst cases of shelling till now.
