Bangalore(DHNS): State Congress president G Parameshwara on Saturday said he will abide by the decision of the party high command on accommodating him in the Cabinet as deputy chief minister.
“I have been a sincere party worker and will continue to be so throughout my career. I will stick to the high command’s decision in this regard,” he told reporters on seeking his reaction to the reports that the high command was not in favour of creating the post of deputy chief minister.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi reportedly agreed with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s suggestion not to create a deputy chief minister post as it may create two power centres in the State.
This has come as a disappointment to Parameshwara who has been trying hard to get the post for himself. Besides, the high command deferred taking any decision on the much-awaited Cabinet expansion.
Private visit
To a question on his visit to Delhi to meet the high command, Parameshwara claimed he went to the national capital for his personal work and not for the party’s. He also said he did not meet any of the party leaders in Delhi.
Cabinet expansion, he said, has been left to the chief minister. Almost everybody wishes to become minister. But the selection will be done on certain parameters. The State Congress coordination committee recently decided to appoint heads to various boards and corporations of the State government by this month end, he added.
Asked about evaluation of the ministers’ performance, he said the party high command has already set up a committee for this purpose. The panel has been asked to chalk out certain yardsticks. The evaluation exercise will be taken up once the party finalises the yardsticks, he added.
