A 16-year-old Russian boy drowned off a Sharjah beach in the Al Khan area while swimming with his friends on Monday afternoon.
A police official quoted in the reports said the youth was sucked by the high tide. Onlookers at the beach tried to rescue him, but they could not.
Police immediately rushed to the scene after being informed and the dead body of the teenager was pulled out of the sea.
The body was transferred to Al Qasimi hospital.
