Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra seems unstoppable. The actress, who has had a steady career in Bollywood, has been working on deepening her international footprint as well. From being the face of international fashion brands to her formal music training in Los Angeles and then cutting her own single with Pitbull, PC has been successfully adding several feathers in her cap.
But this time she seems to have outdone herself. We now hear that Priyanka has been roped in to play the lead in a TV show from ABC, one of Hollywood’s popular studios.
The studio, that’s responsible for shows such as Castle and Modern Family, has designed the concept of their upcoming show around PC. So, this will be the first time an Indian actress will be playing lead in an American TV show. Earlier, it was Lunch Box actress Nimrat Kaur who was taken onboard for Homeland, but that was not a lead role.
The deal was formally signed on Tuesday. According to sources close to Priyanka, she now has a one-year contract with ABC Television. “The details of the show are being worked on. Her team in Los Angeles and Mumbai are trying to ensure that her dates for the show and her Hindi films don’t clash. Priyanka is obviously ecstatic and she is looking forward to yet another new phase in her career,” added a source, close to the star.
