Mumbai: Salman Khan’s youngest sibling, Arpita, is engaged to Aayush Sharma, a Delhiite who is currently in Mumbai to pursue an acting career.
To get the story from the horse’s mouth, we speak to Arpita and Salman’s father, Salim Khan, who says, “We are not the ones to finalise the marriages of any of our children. It’s all up to them. Yes, Arpita is going ahead with Aayush Sharma, he is a sensible person. Both of them need to evaluate their relationship as they need to live together for the rest of their lives. The families have met and have given consent to their relationship. They have taken some time out in order to settle down professionally.”
He adds, “Way back I had told Arbaaz, ‘if you are not being able to establish yourself as an actor, why don’t you produce films?’ And thereafter he turned producer. Similarly Aayush, who is trying his luck in the film industry, is all game for it. But if it does not work out he will fall back on his family business. At the moment, we need to give him time to fulfil his dreams.”
“Our family is very broad-minded. I myself got married twice. I did not ask for the consent of any of my family members. But yes! The consent of the girl in question was essential for me,” Salim says, adding, “I have no restrictions for my sons getting married to anyone, be it a Jew, a Catholic or from any religion.”
What about Salman? “Salman ko bhi khuli chhut hai… par woh shaadi ke liye raazi toh ho pehele (Salman too has my permission but he has to be ready to get married first).”
“Arpita is our beloved daughter and we will stand by her side always. More than falling in love it is important to be able to carry forward the relationship. Their marriage will take place sometime next year,” he says.
