Sharjah Police warns against spreading rumours on social media

Asks residents not to circulate rumours, misinformation, photos and news that come to them through social networking sites

Sharjah Police has warned against spreading rumours on social media that they might find on the Internet.

It assured that the public safety is not threatened and there is nothing that can disturb peace and security of the country, Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm said in a report.

“The General Directorate of Sharjah Police informs all the fellow citizens and residents not to circulate rumours, misinformation, photos and news that come to them through social networking sites, and other means of smart communication. It also asked residents not to distribute such contents in any way in order to avoid legal accountability,” the police said in a statement on the website.

The police asked residents to communicate any news or information given to them with Sharjah Police to ensure its credibility and also to ensure that everyone is safe and there is nothing which can disturb the security and safety.
