Sharjah Police urge public to teach their children to avoid needlessly calling emergency number
Sharjah: An Arab man was taken into custody and interrogated by police after his eight-year-old child kept calling the emergency number, only to ignore responders.
Police officials would return the calls but the child would cut them without saying a word. The operation was repeated several times.
Initially, officers did not know the source of the calls. They then tracked the number and established that it was a child playing with his father’s mobile phone.
Sharjah Police, who said they were taking action against the father to prevent a repeat of the incidents, urged all community members to educate their children to avoid needlessly calling police operation rooms.
