Barabanki: As Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav celebrates his 75th birth anniversay in Rampur, supporters of his party legislator Abhay Singh have been caught on camera brutally thrashing toll plaza attendants in Barabanki district in broad daylight.
The local police refused to comment on the matter and no formal complaint has been registered with the police yet.
However, witnesses allege that Gosainganj MLA Abhay Singh witnessed the entire incident from his Scorpio and did not stop his supporters from attacking the toll plaza employees.
The incident took place on Friday when Singh was on his way to Lucknow and his car had to stop at the toll plaza in Ahmadpur. One of the cars in his convoy, however, stopped in the wrong lane, following which an argument began.
According to Kuldeep Singh, a toll booth employee, the matter escalated when more men arrived in three other vehicles and joined in.
In the CCTV footage, a man is seen grabbing one of the toll booth employees while another beats him up with a stick in full public glare.
There are several instances in which Samajwadi Party workers were seen assaulting toll plaza employees in the past.
